€1,850.00
Antique English Silver Sheffield 1897 Inkwell composed of a top resting on four feral feet, with the groove for the pen and two square crystal ink bottles ground on the sides with a diamond point and with a ground star on the bottom. The two inkwells have a silver border with a hinged lid and decorated with an embossed frame on the perimeter.
The housing for the two crystal bottles is delimited by two foil railings with shaped and perforated edges with scroll motifs, integral with the base by means of two screws with an underlying fixing nut. The edge of the inkwell is composed of a railing that reproduces the same perforated motif of the frames of the inkwells. The punching cycle shows the crown for the city of Sheffield, the lion passing through the 925/000 silver title, the date letter "e" relating to the year 1897 and finally the figures HA in a rectangular field relating to the registered trademark by Harry Wright Atkin since 1853, active on Matilda Street in Sheffield. This Victorian silver inkwell has come down to us in an excellent state of conservation also for what concerns the crystals. We report on the bottom of the same a calligraphic engraving “888… .LD /”. Ideal for a great representative gift. The weight of the silver base alone is 1175 grams.
