Activity for 9 year olds

How many times have your children told you: am I bored? Here are lots of activities for 9 year olds for really fun days!

Despite having a seemingly infinite number of options, it is almost inevitable that children between the ages of 9 and 12 will regularly pronounce the two words: "I'm bored". While this slogan is - let's face it - a little annoying, it's important for parents to remember that physical and mental stimulation is crucial for young people and the relationship between the two is symbiotic.

Activities for 9 year olds: activities to do at home

When it comes to finding mentally stimulating activities for teens, Dr. Trachtenberg recommends activities where children can relax and be creative without being judged ”. "Reading, doing art projects together, cooking are all great ways to bond with children and work on their mental form."

The next time your child starts complaining about having nothing to do, try some of these activities for 9-year-olds.

  • Learn how to tie friendship bracelets.
  • Put on an impromptu comedy.
  • Arrange one treasure hunt.
  • make homemade bread
  • Learn to play musical instruments together
  • Embroider cloth handkerchiefs to give as gifts
  • See the moon with a telescope or binoculars
  • Teach them a card trick to impress their friends
  • Make homemade popcorn for a good movie to all see together
  • Have a room cleaning contest
  • Teach them to play chess (or learn with them)
  • Put on an impromptu comedy.
  • Take a virtual tour of the museum. While we're still stuck, with closed museums and galleries and unable to travel, explore museums online. They include Buckingham Palace, Edinburgh Castle, and the Tower of London, along with those in the United States and Europe.
  • Make a puzzle
  • Create your music video. TikTok exploded onto the scene last year for the first time and now, everyone is a star with lip sync videos going viral every day. But you don't have to sign up for TikTok to enjoy lip syncing, dancing, and facial expressions. Create your own music video and have fun with the whole family, just using an iPhone. Have the children design the video, including what the lighting will be, what song will be sung, what everyone will wear, and what the set will look like.
  • Build a den in the house. Grab pillows and blankets and create your own castle!

Make a bath bomb.

Whether it's the little ones splashing around in the colorful water or the adults taking a moment to relax with scented oils after a stressful day, a bath bomb is loved by everyone. And they're so easy to make at home! You can make your own with some kitchen equipment and some scented supplies. Preparation time: 2 hours plus drying time.

You will need:

  • Bath bomb molds of various sizes
  • 70 g of citric acid
  • 140g sodium bicarbonate
  • Lavender essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon of almond oil
  • Dried lavender
  • Dried rose petals
  • Protective gloves
  • Scales
  • A large bowl
  • Sieve
  • Spoon or whisk
  • Measure

Weigh the citric acid and baking soda, then sieve into a large bowl. Mix the dry ingredients with a gloved hand or whisk. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil followed by almond oil to the dry mix. Combine the ingredients. If you want to make floral bath bombs, now is the time to add a couple of tablespoons of dried lavender. Stir constantly to make sure the lavender is evenly distributed. Using your hand to feel the texture, keep stirring. It should clump easily when some of the mixture is squeezed in your hand. If it's a little dry, add a small amount of oil, a little at a time. Place a few dried rose petals on top of one of the bath bomb molds. Fill one half of a mold with the mixture, making sure to stack more. Do the same with another half. Press the two halves together and squeeze to compact the mixture into a bath bomb shape. Using a metal spoon, tap the outside of one of the halves to help release the bath bomb. Rotate and lift half of the mold to reveal. Let the bath bomb dry like this for at least 24 hours before releasing the other half.
