André Durand Views of the Island of Elba 1862. Series of four lithographs printed in two colors by Eugène Ciceri on instructions by André Durand published in Paris by Lemercier and included in the famous work “L'Ile d'Elbe album recueilli sous la diréction de M. le Prince Anatole Demidoff, 1862 ". The prints are framed in an original way with the frame of a hand marbled cardboard in shades of green, and are framed with a molded Sienese yellow rod. The views are relative to the Porta di Terra; at Forte Stella; to the Forte and the Fortezza di Longone; at Forte Falcone.
André Durand, much appreciated draftsman and lithographer, and expert in archeology was driven by the enthusiasm of the Russian prince Anatole Demidoff, Durand produced for the first time an album with 18 lithographs of picturesque views of the Island of Elba (in collaboration with Eugène Ciceri). They are evocative works that show a wild and partly unexplored island. Between them there are external views of Portoferraio, Rio Marina, Marciana and also of the Imperial Villa of San Martino with the Napoleonic Museum founded by Prince Demidoff.
