Linfedema – Calze Elastocompressive

ELASTOCOMPRESSION

È la tecnica di cura più antica della malattia varicosa e linfatica e delle sue complicanze. Si basa sull’applicazione di bendaggi sugli arti inferiori, efficace per gonfiori alle gambe, causati da insufficienza venosa e linfatica. Ai nostri giorni i bendaggi sono stati in parte sostituiti dalle calze e dai tutori elastici. Questi prodotti sono determinanti per la prevenzione e la cura di malattie venose, del linfedema e delle loro complicanze.

Inoltre sono fondamentali durante la terapia medica, nel decorso postoperatorio, nella terapia sclerosante e nel mantenimento del risultato ottenuto dai trattamenti volti alla riduzione dell’edema dovuto ad anomalie del sistema linfatico. Nella prevenzione ritardano o evitano la comparsa della malattia, nella malattia avanzata riducono complicazioni di ulcere e flebiti. Evitano la formazione di edemi e potenziano l’efficacia della “pompa venosa”.

The elastic stockings and the elastic braces for the limbs compress the superficial veins and the microcirculation pushes the blood from the superficial veins into the deep venous axis which has a normal function.

The reflux in the superficial veins is reduced until it disappears in relation to the compression exerted by the brace. This avoids problems with venous stasis or venous ulcers. To simplify this mechanism of action, it can be said that the elastic compression has a real “pump effect”.

Elastocompression is also strongly recommended for maintaining the result obtained following lymphatic drainage treatments in cases of lymphedema, preventing other liquid from accumulating and therefore increasing fibrosis over time. Compression (in our case elastocompression) is the force exerted by the pantyhose or brace compressing the limb, so as to favor the pump effect and help blood and lymphatic circulation.

Compression is measured at predetermined points and is expressed in millimeters of mercury (mmHg).

When we talk about compression, we specify graduated compression, decreasing upwards.

The highest compression value is at the malleolus, called point B in medical language. The millimeters of compression mercury indicated on the packages are measured at point B.
