Philodendron scandens

Evergreen, with aerial roots that develop from the nodes. The leaves (which in nature even reach a length of 50 cm and more) are green mottled with yellow, at the juvenile stage and heart-shaped, at the adult stage. In the apartment the variegations are often lost, sometimes thanks to a dim exposure. In its natural habitat it reaches 6-8 meters in height, while in the apartment it does not exceed 2 meters.

CARE

The minimum winter temperature must be between 13 and 18 ° C. Exposure with diffused light away from direct sun. Low light exposure will result in the loss of mottling. Water frequently in summer (even 3 times a week if it is very hot), allowing the substrate to dry between one administration and the other; reduce the administration in winter. Spray and add clay expands into the saucer. Being plants with a poorly developed root system and subject to root rot, it is preferable to ensure adequate humidity to the aerial roots.
