Venice: the landing tax postponed to 2022 to attract tourists

The decision to postpone the access contribution for visitors to the lagoon city will enable tourism to be encouraged.

Postponement of a year, at least until next January 2022, the landing tax in Venice, or the entrance fee to be applied to visitors to the lagoon city.

The tax had to be applied to tourists visiting the Venetian city as early as last July in order to manage and limit hit and run tourism. In fact, in recent years, travelers who have chosen the beautiful historic center of Venice and its lagoon islands as destinations for small getaways there were many and for this reason it was necessary tointroduction of a small contribution to limit entry to the city center.

An experiment that will have the primary objective of manage tourist flows with a sum requested from travelers ranging from 3 to 10 euros (for the days with a "black sticker") and which will be advanced to the Municipality by credit cards, Paypal but also bank transfer.

The idea of postpone the tax was taken in recent days by the council of the City of Venice and the proposal, put forward by the councilor for the Budget and Taxes Michele Zuin, will then be discussed in the municipal council and will soon become effective.

A choice linked to common sense that will allow attract tourists which, unfortunately, are also missing in Italy in this 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. In fact, Covid-19 has slowed down and, in some cases, blocked the world of travel, also changing the way of traveling in recent months.

According to Councilor Zuin, the decision to postpone the landing tax was taken "in light of the current situation following the Covid-19 pandemic" in order to "favor the return of tourist flows. A necessary measure that is fully part of that strategic plan of the administration aimed at relaunching the city economy ".

At the same time, however, from the town hall of Venice it is made known that the work for the development of a software and hardware system for the management of reservations system of the access contribution is continuing.

In this way for 2022 everything will be ready and functional e travelers can immerse themselves in the beauty of Venicediscover the beautiful Piazza San Marco, take a gondola ride, admire the Venetian bridges, including the beautiful Rialto Bridge, perhaps extending the visit until the evening for a aperitif in typical little bars or enjoy a traditional dinner with a unique view over the city.
