WHO WE ARE

In 1923 by the silver medal lieutenant Vincenzo Gandolfi, by the war volunteer lieutenant Domenico Pelandi, by the bronze medals Giustino Gritti and Mario Nani, by a certain Perolari whose traces have been lost and by some veterans of the "First World War ”Our ANA group was formed

As today, even then the main purpose was to aggregate among the members of the mountain troops on leave, but above all to bring help where the need arose.

The Alzano group had its baptism precisely in the year of its foundation: in fact a large group of retired Alpine troops participated, under the guidance of the future Gold Medal to VM Guido Paglia, in the pitiful work of intervention in the Scalve Valley to the terrible disgrace of 2 December 1923 due to the collapse of the Gleno dam.

During the fascist period, the ANA of Alzano, like all other similar entities, lost its autonomy, being inserted in the context of the various combatant and weapon associations and framed in the so-called "X ° Alpine Regiment".

In 1946 the "Group" was reconstituted thanks to the future Mayor Mario Nani, Giustino Gritti, Ardenghi Luigi "Gino", Gherardi Pietro Giovanni (the famous Gioan called "Mascherpa") and other veterans of the 1940-1945 war (the reconstitution official of the "Group" took place in 1956). It was immediately a succession of social activities, both as a support to local welfare agencies, and as participation in reconstruction or renovation works.

The social gathering was equally felt as the National gathering.

In 1974-75 a stele 18 meters high was erected in Monte di Nese on Mount Colletto called “Pimpinel”, the work of the wrought iron master Pietro Bassi, who was a member of our “Group”. Every year, on the last Sunday of August, a Mass is celebrated to remember all the Alpini "gone ahead".

On April 29, 1990, the new headquarters were inaugurated in the locality called "il campo" where the municipal swimming pools currently stand. A pedestrian passage named in 2012 to the Alpine Orobica Brigade leads to our headquarters.

In 2008, after careful research lasting two years, the book "OUR HISTORY“, Which tells in great detail 85 years of Alpine events. (The book is deposited in the municipal library and in the headquarters of the Alpini)

Our Group has participated in all the calamitous events that have occurred on our territory, both by raising funds and by sending men to disaster areas.

In 2017, thanks to the generosity of our people, we collected the considerable amount of 45,000 euros paid to our Section, for the construction of a multipurpose center in Accumuli in the province of Rieti, a town completely destroyed in the last earthquake. In 2018 we celebrated the 95th year of the foundation of our Alpini Group.
