Hints of History
Breda di Piave is located north east of Treviso and probably owes its name to " PRAEDIA”, A Latin term that indicated those farms that discharged veteran soldiers received as a reward for their service to the army of the Roman Empire.
The building on which the farmhouse stands was already present in the Napoleonic cadastre therefore it can be traced back to About 1800.
The complex has been renovated respecting the ancient peasant architecture.
The cannonball
During the restoration work, a cannonball was found still embedded in one of the perimeter walls. Since there is no certain information about it, it is assumed that it can be traced back to one of the battles that were fought during the WWI.
Let's not forget that the bloody retreat of our army across the Piave river that followed the battle of Caporetto (November 24, 1917), against the Austrian army, was fought a few kilometers away from here. Currently the cannonball is kept in a display case in the reception room.
"The source"
Another peculiarity of the farm is given by the fountain adjacent to the building with drinking water that flows spontaneously from the underlying aquifer. The water resources of this area (small streams, springs and canals) flow everywhere, which makes it very suitable for the various crops and the land of our company is no exception.
