Eternedile - Magazzini per L'Edilizia

70 years of history

Eternedile was born in 1949 in the historic center of Bologna in Via Mura Interna di Porta Galliera from a happy intuition of Dr. Armando Zavadini. Bologna is heavily wounded by the war: buildings that have been destroyed are rebuilt, while other new ones are built on the outskirts to meet the strong demand for houses. The city is all a construction site. There is a need for everything: from concrete, to pipes, from iron to bricks. Eternedile represents for Bologna the answer to this continuous and impetuous demand for materials. At the end of the seventies: Dr. Zavadini decides to retire and sells the company to Geom. Giorgio Nessi, who had been, from the time of the foundation, his faithful collaborator and co-architect of the successes achieved.

1982 The occasion

In 1982, Franco Nessi, Giorgio's son, decided to join the company, after graduating in Economics. These were difficult years, full of uncertainties. But here, apparently at the wrong time, the opportunity arises that can change the course of events in 1984: Eternit decides to close its store in San Lazzaro di Savena by putting the historic warehouse up for sale. Although the general economic situation did not recommend investments of any kind (the interest rates in the bank even exceeded 17%), the company managed to acquire it and, in just one year, Eternedile's turnover doubles.

40 Points of sale

In 1992 the company decided to open a second store in via Rigosa 7 in Bologna, in the Borgo Panigale district. The warehouse is large, with an open area of 26,000 square meters. It is a new fact that modifies the equilibrium achieved up to now. In fact, at that time, in the province of Bologna, every single warehouse of building materials was family-run: a family, a warehouse. It is the beginning of a new cycle: Eternedile begins a progressive program of new openings that has not yet stopped, as it is closely connected to healthy management based on growth. In 1996 the company decided to open in Modena, in 2000 in Reggio Emilia, in 2004 in Rimini, in 2011 in Siena and in 2013 in Milan.

2017 New start

In 2017 Eternedile acquired Vemac Srl from the multinational Saint Gobain, a leading company in the distribution of building materials in Abruzzo and with an important presence in the Marche region. Following the merger, one of the most important national groups of specialized construction distribution was born with: 38 points of sale for construction and professional hardware; 12 showrooms for bathroom furnishings and finishes; 4 departments of plumbing and heating products; 4 iron processing plants; 1 factory for the production of prefabricated buildings and floors. In 2013 Federico Nessi joined the company, graduated with honors in Management from Bocconi University in Milan. In 2017, Caterina Nessi enters, also graduated in Management from Bocconi University in Milan: they are the fifth generation of a family that has always been involved in building materials, a good omen for the future.

The number of products available in stock for immediate delivery is always constantly growing. Eternedile has evolved from a small warehouse in a basement in the historic center of Bologna to the large warehouses of today, divided into specialized autonomous departments, with over 15,000 items always ready for sale.
